Dining out has always been one of my favourite pastimes. The combination of a pleasant atmosphere, delicious food, and great company makes for an unforgettable experience. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Spinola’s latest culinary hotspot, Tex Mex Que-Shi, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations.

Tex Mex Que-Shi marks a significant milestone for the Tex Mex brand, following its successful expansion into southern Malta. This new restaurant is strategically located in the bustling heart of Spinola, St. Julians, making it a prime spot for both locals and tourists.

The unique concept of Tex-Mex Que-Shi revolves around a fusion of BBQ and sushi, creating an intriguing blend of flavors. The menu offers a diverse range of dishes, from succulent steaks to exquisite Asian-inspired creations, all presented with a modern twist.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who promptly escorted us to a cosy, quiet table in the corner. The restaurant’s ambiance was captivating, with dimmed lighting, an open-plan kitchen, and stunning decor that set the tone for a memorable evening.

As we settled in, we couldn’t help but appreciate the relaxing atmosphere and the tantalising aromas wafting from the kitchen. Our waiter was exceptionally attentive, ensuring that we were well taken care of throughout the evening. The food, too, did not disappoint.

We started our culinary journey with a bottle of white wine from the restaurant’s extensive wine list. For our main course, we opted for the Robata Grill’s fresh house steak platter. This included a fillet de boeuf cooked to perfection and served medium-rare, accompanied by fried potato cubes seasoned with fresh herbs. The dish was complemented by a vibrant salad of mango, beans, and sweetcorn and a rich mushroom sauce that beautifully enhanced the steak’s flavours. It was a meal well worth its price.

To conclude our delightful dinner, we were treated to a complimentary taster of the house ice cream. The selection featured raspberry cheesecake and lime tart ice creams, topped with cream and cherries. It was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal, leaving us feeling extremely satisfied and full.

Tex Mex Que-Shi offers something for everyone, with a long list of American-Asian fusion dishes and an array of innovative cocktails. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty steak or some delicate sushi, this restaurant has you covered.
