A lot of the time people seem to feel like creativity is something that you’re either born with or that you’re simply doomed to never have at all. As though it’s some kind of blessing that you’re given at birth. Well, that’s simply not true.

The reality is that creativity is something that we all have; it’s just a matter of being able to access that creativity and let it out. And sure, it might seem a little easier for some people to do just that than for others, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible for everyone. In light of this, here are a few surprisingly simple activities you can engage in to spark your creativity!

Find an outlet.

If you want to start being more creative, then the first thing that you’ve got to do is to find an outlet for that creativity. This could be anything from music to drawing to dancing to any number of other things. The most important step is the first one. You need to get started.

Whether you’re considering Yamaha second-hand pianos, examining art supplies, or attending a comedy open-mic night at your local, it’s crucial to take the initial step. Sure, you’re probably not going to be amazing at first, but that’s okay! Not being great at something is the first, and most important, step towards being excellent at something!

Do more with your time.

A lot of the time many of us find ourselves simply wasting our free time. The truth is that life can be seriously busy and tiring, so it’s pretty understandable that a lot of people would want to spend their free time simply relaxing on the sofa.

However, if you discover methods to enhance the value of your leisure time, it will stimulate your creativity to a remarkable extent. Even something as simple as getting out for a walk in nature every so often is a fantastic way to give yourself some inspiration.

Find a community

People often believe that creativity is solely a personal endeavour. The images of the isolated writer or the tortured artist are pretty ingrained in our culture. However, the best way to get creative is often to find a group of like-minded people.

This could be a group in your local area, or it could be an online community. Either way, finding people who are all trying to do the same thing as you can be both encouraging and inspiring.

In actuality, creativity is not merely an on/off binary switch. It’s not a matter of whether you have it or you don’t. There will be some days when you’re feeling incredibly creative and you want to channel that energy into everything that you do.

And then there are going to be those days where you feel like you’ve got no creative energy at all. Both of those situations are okay! The reality is that we all have that spark of creativity inside us; it just sometimes takes different things to make it come out.
