I’ve taken a proactive step towards personal and professional development by enrolling in the Edinburgh Long Life Learning course. This unique program offers the flexibility of part-time study, allowing me to select courses that align with my interests and accumulate credits towards earning a certificate.
While the course provides valuable learning materials, I’ve always believed that the most effective way to grasp a subject truly is to immerse oneself in practical application. Theory is essential, but the transformative power of hands-on experience cannot be underestimated.
By combining the theoretical knowledge gained through the course with real-world practice, I’m confident that I can enhance my skills and understanding meaningfully. This approach enriches my learning journey and equips me with the practical expertise necessary to excel in my chosen field.
So, as I embark on this educational adventure, I’m excited to embrace the blend of classroom knowledge and practical application, knowing that it will shape me into a well-rounded and capable learner. With each step forward, I am confident I’m paving the way for personal growth and success.
When I arrived in Edinburgh in June 2012, I was uncertain about my career path and going through a challenging time that left me lacking motivation. During this period of uncertainty, I made a bold decision to start my blog.
With no prior knowledge or experience in blogging, I turned to my trusty tutor, Google, to guide me through the process. In the beginning, I’m sure people wondered what on earth I was talking about!
But now, I’m thrilled to share that my blog has amassed over 12K followers, opening doors to collaborations with brands and companies I never thought possible. All of this is simply by being true to myself, embracing honesty, and taking that leap of faith. You never know until you try!
Many have experienced jobs where our talents were underappreciated, or we felt we were progressing slower than others. However, I firmly believe we can achieve our goals with steadfast determination and hard work. Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not good enough for that promotion or not creative or academic enough. Remember, even Walt Disney was once told he lacked creativity!
I was introducing the Edinburgh Bloggers Conference—a project that started like many others, with me, my laptop, and, of course, my cats. With a clear vision in mind and the guidance of Colin from Social Tailor, we brainstormed and planned at the Edinburgh Apple store in May.
As the puzzle pieces came together, I reached out to companies I had previous work experience with, and their support along the way was invaluable. However, I soon realized that I couldn’t do it all alone, and that’s when I assembled an incredible team to work alongside me.
It shows that success isn’t solely determined by intelligence or the number of certificates one holds. Put in the effort, and it will undoubtedly pay off.
After countless hours of hard work, fueled by coffee and the occasional cat cuddle, I’m proud to announce that we now have over 17 sponsors supporting us on the event day. Additionally, we’ve gathered an impressive lineup of 13 speakers, two of whom have graciously taken time out of their busy schedules to join us at the fabulous venue, Whitespace, in the heart of Edinburgh.
So, join us on this exciting journey, and let’s prove that passion, dedication, and a sprinkle of Scottish charm can pave the way to incredible achievements. The Edinburgh Bloggers Conference is set to be an unforgettable event, and we can’t wait to see you there!
The event involves panel workshops, a ‘talk show’, keynote speakers, Irn-Bru pink pong, an open bar, workshops, and fantastic attendance!
