In case you haven’t heard, I love to swim! The therapeutic feeling of being in the water creates a sense of floating effortlessly and beautifully. This sensation is one of the reasons why swimming is such a beloved activity for many. During a recent week-long trip to Malta, my mom and I had a wonderful time together, enjoying the tranquilly and beauty of the island.
A Relaxing August Getaway
By the end of August, most people will have returned to their homes and schools, leading to a calm and serene atmosphere. Despite Malta being a tiny island, my mom and I always make it a point to go away when she’s over. It’s always a delightful experience to escape, feel pampered, and live stress-free, even for a short while.
Our most recent adventure took us to Mellieha for a long weekend. We spent our days chilling by the water and savouring meals during breathtaking sunsets. It was the perfect way to unwind and enjoy each other’s company.
Discovering Malta’s Gem: The Blue Lagoon
For those unfamiliar, Malta is famous for its crystal-clear waters, particularly the Blue Lagoon. I had the opportunity to visit this paradise while on a work trip, and it left a lasting impression on me. The Blue Lagoon is a stunning blend of vibrant blue waters and captivating natural beauty, making it feel like a mix between Asia and Africa.
Our Stay at the Comino Hotel
During our trip, I suggested we stay at the Comino Hotel, the only hotel on the tiny island of Comino, situated between Malta and Gozo. The hotel is just a 20-minute boat ride away and offers an exclusive and tranquil retreat.
When we arrived, the boat stopped directly at the hotel reception. The Blue Lagoon is located on the other side of the island, and we passed by all the tourist boats heading back to Malta. It felt like we were entering a hidden paradise.
Upon check-in, we were greeted with a complimentary tropical drink, setting the tone for a relaxing stay. We had booked our stay two nights before arriving, which was extremely fortunate. We had contacted the hotel asking for last-minute cancellations, and to our surprise, we managed to secure our booking well in advance.
Exploring Comino
We stayed for a long weekend, and the hotel’s boat service, which picked us up from Cirkewwa (Gozo Channel), was reliable and efficient. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, ensuring we had a memorable stay.
Activities on Comino Island
Comino Island offers a variety of activities for visitors. We spent our days relaxing on the private beach and exploring the crystal-clear waters of the Blue Lagoon. The island’s beauty is truly captivating, and it’s easy to lose track of time while soaking in the serene environment.
The Comino Hotel is a hidden gem, offering a choice between staying in the main hotel or opting for the more secluded bungalows. Both options provide a unique and relaxing experience.
