Ah, it’s been a few years since we last saw the Gallagher family wreaking havoc on Chicago’s South Side, and let’s face it—we miss the chaos. Ever wonder what the cast of Shameless is up to these days? Well, grab a drink (hopefully not from The Alibi) because here’s what your favourite dysfunctional family is doing now.
Emmy Rossum (Fiona Gallagher)
Once the ultimate big sister, Fiona left the Gallagher house—and Emmy Rossum left Shameless in season 9—to seek new challenges. Emmy is now shining bright as Angelyne, the iconic 80s LA billboard queen, in Peacock’s limited series of the same name. Ditching the South Side for neon pink and flashy cars, she’s practically unrecognizable—but in the best way. Emmy also starred in The Crowded Room on Apple TV+, alongside Tom Holland. Quite the glow-up from scraping together rent money, right?
William H. Macy (Frank Gallagher)
Frank Gallagher, the king of terrible life choices and epic monologues, might be gone, but William H. Macy is still making waves. After leaving Shameless, Macy moved on to big-screen projects like Krystal and Rudderless. Recently, he starred in the upcoming film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Netflix’s sci-fi movie The Electric State with Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. Thankfully, there’s no sign of Frank’s scheming ways here (although we bet Frank would’ve tried to scam the apes for free booze).
Jeremy Allen White (Lip Gallagher)
Lip has traded Gallagher family chaos for the high-stakes world of culinary drama. Jeremy Allen White is now the star of FX’s hit series The Bear, where he plays a stressed-out chef trying to turn a run-down sandwich shop into a culinary hotspot. Critics and fans are eating up his performance—pun intended.
He even won a Golden Globe for the role in 2023. Up next? He’s starring in Fingernails, an intriguing sci-fi romance on Apple TV+ where love gets put to the test. Not exactly South Side shenanigans, but Lip’s hustle is still strong.
Cameron Monaghan (Ian Gallagher)
The redheaded firecracker who made “Gallavich” a household term, Cameron Monaghan, has stayed busy after Shameless. He reprised his role as Jedi Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the video game sequel to Fallen Order. He’s also starring in the psychological thriller Paradise Highway with Morgan Freeman and Juliette Binoche and in the dark, romantic drama Shattered. Ian may have left Chicago, but Cameron’s carving his path through galaxies and gritty films—how very Gallagher of him.
Noel Fisher (Mickey Milkovich)
Mickey Milkovich, Ian’s ride-or-die and fan-favourite bad boy, remains close to our hearts, even if he’s not knocking over liquor stores anymore. Noel Fisher has been busy with diverse projects, including appearing in The Conners and Law & Order: SVU. Most recently, he joined the cast of the thriller The Calling, lending his voice to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, playing the role of Toca. Mickey’s still got that edge, even if he’s taking on new worlds—mutant turtles included.
Ethan Cutkosky (Carl Gallagher)
Carl Gallagher, the kid who went from a future criminal to a surprisingly responsible cop, has been chasing different dreams off-screen. Ethan Cutkosky is now pursuing a music career and released a single, “Erase Me,” that dives deep into personal reflections and his growing-up journey. He’s also staying close to his Shameless roots, collaborating on music with other co-stars.
Carl always had that rebellious energy, and now he’s channelling it into the music world—though we’re sure he still knows how to break the rules.
Emma Kenney (Debbie Gallagher)
Debbie Gallagher grew from a sweet kid to a master manipulator (with welding skills, no less), and Emma Kenney has been just as ambitious. She’s starring in The Conners as Harris, Darlene’s rebellious daughter. The show’s a spin-off of Roseanne, so Emma has stayed firmly in the sitcom universe. Debbie would be proud of her knack for scheming and survival. Kenney also recently appeared in the thriller Murder at Yellowstone City, bringing Debbie’s grit to the Wild West.
Shanola Hampton (Veronica Fisher)
Veronica, the Gallagher-adjacent powerhouse, was always up to something, and Shanola Hampton has kept that energy. Shanola stars in the NBC crime drama Found, where she plays a brilliant PR specialist who helps solve missing persons cases. The show gives us V’s boldness but with a serious upgrade in mystery and drama. Shanola also produced and starred in American Bullet, a gritty crime drama. V would 100% approve—especially if there’s money to be made on the side.
Steve Howey (Kevin Ball)
Kev, our favourite lovable and goofy bartender, is still going strong, but Steve Howey has moved into action-packed roles. He’s currently starring in True Lies, CBS’s reboot of the classic Schwarzenegger film, where he plays a spy with a family life that’s almost as complicated as Kev’s time at The Alibi. Howey’s also appearing in Day Shift, a vampire action-comedy on Netflix alongside Jamie Foxx. Kev’s muscles didn’t go to waste—Howey’s kicking butt and taking names!
Though the Shameless cast may have moved on from their Gallagher roots, they’re still hustling, thriving, and—let’s be real—probably getting into a bit of trouble (in fiction, at least). Whether they’re fighting apes, saving the galaxy, or cooking up a storm, they’ve got that unmistakable South Side spirit. As Frank might say, “Once a Gallagher, always a Gallagher.”
