I love to swim (in case you haven’t heard) Just something about being in the water, the therapeutic mindsets, it is like your flying, dainty and free! Ok sounds better in my head, anyways, my mum was over for a week visiting me in Malta, now around this time of the month, end of August, everyone’s going back home, back to school etc. So things tend to calm down.
We always go away when she’s over, even though the island is so small, but it’s fun, just to get away, feel pampered and stress-free! Last time we headed to Mellieha for a long weekend, of chilling by the water and digging into sunset meals!
For those of you who don’t know, Malta is famous for the crystal clear waters, i.e Blue Lagoon, I went there with work and wow what a paradise, a mixture for me between Asia and Africa!
So I suggested we stay at the Comino Hotel (the only hotel on the island of Comino which is a 20 min boat ride) Now you might be getting confused. There are Malta and Gozo, but between is a super small island called Comino, there are day trips there, but one hotel.
Comino (Maltese: Kemmuna), formerly called Ephaestia, is a small island of the Maltese archipelago between the islands of Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean Sea, measuring 3.5 square kilometres (1.4 sq mi) in the area. Named after the cumin seed that once flourished in the Maltese islands, the island is the least densely populated area in the Republic of Malta. It has a permanent population of only three residents, following the death of the fourth resident in 2017. Administratively, it is part of the municipality of Għajnsielem, in southeastern Gozo. One priest and one policeman commute from the nearby island of Gozo. The island is a bird sanctuary and nature reserve.
On arrival, the boat literally stops at the hotel reception, the Blue Lagoon on the other side of the island, you pass all the tourist boats heading back to Malta, while we head around the corner to this hidden resort.
Check-in and a complimentary tropical drink. We literally booked 2 nights before arriving, which was super lucky contacting the hotel asking for last min dropouts etc, as you can imagine its booked way in advance!
So we stayed for a long weekend. Hotel boat to pick us up from Criwaankia (Gozo Channel) A small little boat, we had a lovely breakfast being a buffet so you can imagine I was in my element, as well as dinner outside, all you can eat, ranging from steaks, fresh salads and stunning views with deserts, as well as a relaxed atmosphere, (I mean no one’s going anywhere cause lets, to be honest, how are you to run away!) In the evenings it’s live music, dancing, families, fun and relaxing.)
The staff was ever so friendly and helpful, things to do on the island involve. Spending the day relaxing on the private beach and popping over to Blue Lagoon to see the crystal clear Mediterranean waters. A hidden treasure The Comino Hotel is, with a choice of staying at the hotel or taking a little path over to the bungalows.
